“Those Are My Girls” — Chelsea’s Story of Love, Loss, and God at Work

Chelsea came to us in February very undecided about her pregnancy. She disclosed that she had a young daughter at home and that the father of the baby was a close friend, but not the same man as her daughter’s father. She admitted that she was still in love with her daughter’s father, and this pregnancy felt like a painful reminder that she wasn’t with the man she truly wanted to be with.

During the appointment, our staff felt as though she was leaning toward abortion. Unfortunately, a few weeks later Chelsea reached out and confirmed that she had gone through with it. As devastated as our staff was to receive this news, Chelsea’s story is still one that reminds us we are making an impact. We tell every single client that no matter what they decide, we still want to support and care for them—to truly demonstrate the love of Jesus.

When Chelsea called, she explained that after her abortion, the clinic offered her post-abortion care. She told them, “No, I want to go to WCN because those are my girls.” She shared with one of our staff members that she knew she didn’t make the decision we wanted, but she also knew we still loved her.

Chelsea later returned with her daughter Liberty, and as our staff shared parts of their testimonies about how God had shown up in their lives, little Liberty suddenly shouted, “That’s who mommy and I have been reading about!” This is how we know that the seeds we plant often take root in ways we couldn’t expect—but God is always working.

Chelsea has continued coming to us as she works through the emotions of her recent abortion. Please pray that the Lord will provide deep healing and transformation in her life.

“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” – 1 Corinthians 3:6
