“My Baby is So Beautiful” — Samara’s Story of Courage and New Life

Samara came to our center in July, eight weeks pregnant. She had just turned 18 and was thoroughly convinced that she was too young to even consider being a mom. “I am still basically a child myself. I don’t even know if I want children ever!” she said. Samara was insistent that she really just wanted to be an adult first—to experience life fully before settling down.

The father of the baby had a different perspective. He was adamant that he wanted the baby and promised to do everything he could to support Samara and their child. But despite his words, he felt like nothing he said could change her mind.

During her ultrasound, something unexpected happened. As she watched her baby moving across the screen, joy lit up her face. She even asked for a photo so she could remember her baby. One of our staff members gently asked a hard question: “Your words are saying abortion, but your face says something different. Are you sure this is what you want?” Samara admitted that she felt torn. “I feel really excited that there is a healthy, growing baby in there—but my reasons for wanting an abortion are still there.”

We scheduled another appointment, and when she returned, Samara shared something remarkable: she had scheduled an abortion—but didn’t go. She confessed that after her first ultrasound, she kept wondering if her baby was okay, even though she thought she wanted to end the pregnancy. Our team knew this was a divine opportunity to share the Gospel with her, and we also recognized how much grief she might experience if she went through with an abortion.

At her final ultrasound, Samara looked at the screen and smiled. “My baby is so beautiful,” she said. “I am going to have this baby. I have all of the support I need.” Our staff rejoiced with her decision for life! Samara plans to continue coming to our Pregnancy Wellness Journey classes, and we are excited to walk alongside her in this season.

Please pray for Samara—for a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery, for her continued journey of faith, and for blessings over both her and her baby as they begin this new chapter of life.
